Mrs. John David Gifford

    Natalie Brooke Davis and John David Gifford were united in marriage on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 7:00 in the evening. The Reverend William H. Perry officiated the double-ring ceremony at First Baptist Church of Statesboro, Georgia.
    Music was provided by Sheila McGee, organist; Stacy Brown, trumpeter; and Brittany Connell Davis, soloist.
    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Glenn Davis Sr. of Statesboro. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Sue Jordan and the late Clyde Lee Jordan of Reidsville, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Ben H. Deal and the late William Otha Davis Jr. of Brooklet, Ga.
    The groom is the son of Mr. William David Gifford and the late Molly Marie Motes Gifford of Macon, Ga. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Glenn Motes Jr. of Macon, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Gifford of Atlanta, Ga.
    Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless ivory, modified A-line gown with a softly scooped neckline. The duchesse satin was tiered and gathered at the back with an obi-style bow. She wore a cathedral veil of illusion, which was attached to a Juliet cap of Venise lace and pearls, originally worn by her mother in 1982. The bride carried a lush bouquet of white peonies, polar star roses, white freesia and white hydrangea tied with a monogrammed satin sash and wore the wedding ring of her great-grandmother, Bertha M.H. Waters.
    The matron of honor was Shanna Kicklighter Sexton of Blackshear, Ga., cousin of the bride. The maid of honor was Brittany Starr Sikes of Huntsville, Alabama, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Lauren Taylor Anderson of Dalton, Ga., Jennifer Rebecca Atkinson of Nashville, Tenn., Erin Danielle Beasley of Augusta, Ga., Emily Elizabeth Eisenhart of Statesboro, Gina Lynn Gibson of Statesboro, Mrs. Jamie Anderson Lanier of Statesboro, Jessie Iris Motes of Dahlonega, Ga., cousin of the groom; and Meghan Brittany Putnam of Dalton, Ga. Junior bridesmaid was Talley Katherine Motes of Dahlonega, Ga., cousin of the groom. The flower girl was Allyson Morgan Kicklighter of Huntsville, Ala, cousin of the bride.
    The bridesmaids were dressed in black chiffon, floor-length gowns with an elegant sweetheart bodice. They carried bouquets of bright cerise peonies with green cymbidium orchid accents. The flower girl wore an ivory Dupioni silk floor-length dress, accented with a gold organza sash, and carried a bouquet of white peonies.
    William David Gifford served as his son's best man. Groomsmen were Charles Albert Arnold of Macon, William Medlock Conn III of Macon, William Glenn Davis Jr. of Statesboro, brother of the bride;  Joby Charles Arthur Gaudet of Macon, Christopher Kelley Gifford of Atlanta, brother of the groom; Joseph Howard Gifford of Macon, brother of the groom; Harris Samuel Kent of Macon, Christopher Alan Moore of Macon and Daniel Benjamin Wells of Macon. The ring bearer was Samuel Finn Wagner of Alpharetta, Ga., cousin of the groom. Marshals were Ryan Paul Kicklighter and Bowen Jacob Kicklighter, cousins of the bride, of Statesboro, Ga., and Garrett Riley Wagner and Jackson Tyler Wagner, cousins of the groom of Alpharetta, Ga.
    The altar of the church held a 12-foot wooden cross covered in Italian ruscus and plumosa ruscus. In the center of the cross and in memory of the groom's mother, flowed white dendrobium orchids.
    Following the ceremony, a reception was hosted by the bride's parents at the Gene Bishop Building at Georgia Southern University. The floral design was under the charge of Emily Wynn Wildes, while Ashley Hair Rhodes served as the wedding designer and coordinator.  Following a wedding trip to Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, the couple has made their home in Atlanta.
