Congressman John Barrow coming to Statesboro to speak with military veterans

Text Size: Small Large Medium
Congressman John Barrow (D-Savannah) will be in Statesboro on April 10 to hear concerns from military veterans as part of a week long tour across the district.
Barrow will be in Statesboro from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the American Legion Post #90, located at 100 Rucker Lane just off of Highway 301 South listening to ideas from veterans as to how Congress and the government can better serve those who have served in the military.
"It's a great opportunity for veterans to come out and tell the congressman what they'd like to see Congress working on," said Harper Lawson, spokesman for Barrow.
Lawson said Barrow held a similar tour last year, though instead of having one stop each day, they would have two or three stops each day, holding events in the morning and at lunch in addition to the evening. By holding one event in each town and holding it after work, Lawson said he hopes to see a better turnout than last year.
In addition to Statesboro, Barrow will be visiting Savannah, Louisville, Milledgeville, Lyons and Augusta.
"It's important for veterans to come out and tell the congressman what's on their mind," Lawson said. "If they'd like to see something changed in their veterans benefits, we'd like to know that."
