    Hosting a track meet for the thirs time this season, the Statesboro Blue Devils boys (125 points) and girls (119 points) squads both placed first in a meet featuring SHS, Wayne County, Appling County and Portal on Thursday.
    First-place finishers for the boys were Andrew Taylor (110-meter hurdles), Phillip Brunson (3200), Jaqawn Raymond (triple jump), DeQuan Daniels (long jump), Zaquavian Smith (high jump), Joseph Mainer (300m hurdles), Anthony Gardner (400), Daniel Murphy (800), and Nicholas Hall (pole vault).
    First-place finishers for the girls were Jelisa Richardson (discus), Kierra Nixon (100), Teisha Murray (200), Gabrielle Burns (shot put), Alisia Jenkins (triple jump, long jump), Keiyonna Gusby (high jump, 300 hurdles) and the 4x100 relay team.
    Portal's Joe Lockley got a first-place finish in discus.

Savannah Christian edges SHS
    Statesboro and Savannah Christian faced off Wednesday at Forest Heights Country Club in a nine-hole match, with SCPS (151) edging the Blue Devils (155) by four strokes.
    Low medalists — each carding a 36 — were Statesboro's Jordan Herrington and Savannah Christian's Kevin Richmond.
    Rounding out the score card for Statesboro were Jonathan Bachant (38), Cameron Shiels (39), Clay Boerner (42), Adam Clay (43), Clay Cribbs (46) and T.J. Costlow (46).
    The Lady Blue Devils were led by Sara Jane Bowers (39) and Taylor Saratt.

Screven hosts three-way meet
    SYLVANIA — The Screven County Gamecocks hosted a track and field meet with Tattnall County and Jenkins County Thursday.
    The Lady Gamecocks took first place in the meet.
    First-place finishers for the SCHS girls were Nancy Price (100- and 300-meter hurdles), Cas Austin (3200, 800), Jaala White (1600), Destiny Brewton (high jump) and the 4x100-meter relay team of Brewton, Price, Marshea Mercer and Danielle Brown.
    Tattnall County won on the boys side.
    First-place finishers for Screven were Darius Wright (100), Torrez Abraham (400), Zachary Durrence (pole vault) and the 4x100 team of Abraham, Whright, Dee Barns and Vo Ving.

BA falls to Augusta Prep
    AUGUSTA — Augusta Prep recorded a pair of shutouts against Bulloch Academy Thursday.
    The boys lost 2-0, and the Lady Gators were blanked 3-0.
    The Gators will get a chance for revenge, as the teams will rematch Tuesday at Bulloch Academy.
 
John Milledge tops Gators
    MILLEDGEVILLE — Bulloch Academy lost to John Milledge 10-4 in GISA Region 4-AAA action Wednesday.
    The Gators (4-2 overall and 1-1 in region play) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening inning. Both Walker Blitch and Chris Young drew walks, Win Lee singled and the Trojans helped the cause with a passed ball and a wild pitch
    BA starter Jarrett Humphries gave up two runs in the first and four more in the second but had four strikeouts. He was tagged with the loss.
    Lee led the Gator offense, going 2-for-3 and Clayton Rogers was 1-for-3.
    Bulloch has its first home game of the season Friday, hosting region foe Westminster at 4:30 p.m.

GSU tennis returns to action
    The Georgia Southern Eagles (8-6, 1-1 Southern Conference) continues SoCon play this weekend as they travel to The Citadel (1-15, 0-5) today, before playing host to Samford (11-4, 1-2) Sunday at home.
    Georgia Southern holds a 19-6 record all-time against The Citadel and is 6-3-1 all-time against Samford. The Eagles split contests against the two programs last season. GSU was on the short end of a 3-4 loss to The Citadel, but picked up a 4-3 victory over Samford to close out the 2010 regular season.

WJMS tacks on three more wins
    Last week, the William James Middle School boys beat  Ebenezer 5-0, Effingham 4-0 at Mill Creek and Burke 4-2 at Burke. 
    Alex Wagner, Leon Roberson, Emilio Quintero, Thomas Sullenger and Matt Samiratedu scored for the Knights while Joey Palmer, Matt Samiratedu and Leon Roberson added assists for the Ebenezer shut out. 
    Jordan Aubrey's defensive play along with goals from Ryan Miller, Matt Samiratedu, Alex Wagner and Emilio Quintero gave the shut out against Effingham. Emilio Quintero, Leon Roberson and Matt Samiratedu added assists.     
    Luke Reaves had a strong defensive game while Matt Samiratedu scored twice and Alex Wagner and Wesley Budgett each added one to give the Knights the win over Burke.
    The Lady Knights went to penalty kicks in their win over Ebenezer.
    Danielle Cowart, Sarah Evans, Emmalyne Sisson, Tess Newton, Katie Wilson, and Sam Pollak made PKs in the shootout to give the Knights a 6-5 victory.  Sarah Evans made the stops in goal. 
    A gaol by Emmalyne Sisson in the last five minutes gave the Lady Knights a 1-0 victory over Effingham. Emmalyne Sisson held a solid midfield with Sarah Gagel and Chelsea Wilson scoring to give the Lady Knights the 2-1 victory at Burke.
