Statesboro's 91 points were enough to run away from the competition in the boys meet Thursday at Womack Field, and the 128-point performance by the Lady Devils was good for first on the girls' side.
    Statesboro hosted Effingham County, Claxton and Wayne County.
    First-place finishers for the Lady Blue Devils were Jelisa Richardson (discus, shot put)), Kierra Nixon (100-meter dash), Heather Wasdin (200, 400), Alisia Jenkins (triple jump, long jump, high jump), Dana Hilton (100m hurdles), Shanice Walker (300m hurdles), the 4x100 relay team and Amber Connely (pole vault).
    First place finishers for the boys were the 4x400 relay team, the 4x100 relay team Andrew Taylor (110 hurdles) and Joseph Mainer (300 hurdles).
    Finishing in second place for the Lady Blue Devils were Mahagony Lanier (100, 200), Alexus Tremble (triple jump), Keiyonna Gusby (100 hurdles, high jump, 300 hurdles) and Raven Thomas (400).
    Second-place finishers for the boys were Mainer (110 hurdles), Phillip Brunson (3200), DeQuan Daniels (long jump), Zaquavian Smith (high jump), Taylor (300 hurdles) and Daniel Murphy (800).
    Girls' third-place finishers were Teisha Murray (200), Shurkuan Williams (triple jump) and Veljulisia Canty (100 hurdles).
    Third-place finishers for the boys were Andreas Ward (300 hurdles), Yakeem Coleman (triple jump), Jaqawn Raymond (high jump), Courtney Reese (300 hurdles) and Anthony Gardner (400).

Lady Eagles return to action

    Georgia Southern continues a 10-game road swing this weekend with a trio of Southern Conference games against Western Carolina. The series starts today at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader and concludes with a Sunday matinee at 1 p.m.
    Georgia Southern has won five-straight over Western Carolina and leads the all-time series, 10-8. The Eagles won all three games in Statesboro in 2010.


Mount de Sales track hosts Gators
    MACON — The Bulloch Academy boys claimed the top spot and the girls took third in a six-team track meet at Mount de Sales Thursday.
    The Gators notched 126 points for their victory while the Lady Gators tallied 82.
    In the boys’ meet, Aaron Best won the long jump (18-1), the 100-meter dash (11.5) and the 200m dash (24.5). He also ran legs on the winning 4x100m relay team (52.4) with Justin Lane, Dylan Stuckey and Jake Hagan and the second-place 4x400m relay team (4:32) with Hagan, Stuckey and Atys Cope.
    Hunter Perry won the high jump (4-11) and Stuckey took the 55m hurdles (9.4).
    Other top performances were turned in by Stuckey in the shot (2nd,), Lane in the 55m hurdles (2nd), Cope in the high jump and the 400m dash (third) and G.C. Kimbrell in the discus (3rd).
    In the girls’ meet, Dailey Averitt won the high jump (4-10) and Page Spence took the discus (72-2).
    Other top performances were turned in by Spence in the 400m dash (2nd) and in the shot put (3rd), Heather Jacobs in the 1600m run (2nd) and in the 800m run (3rd), the 4x400m relay team (2nd, Spence, Averitt, Jacobs and Kerigan Mallard) and the 4x100m relay team (3rd, Averitt, Jacobs, Spence and Mary Payton Freeman).

Trinity sweeps BA

    DUBLIN — Trinity Christian School swept Bulloch Academy in GISA Region 4-AAA soccer action Thursday.
    The Gator girls were blanked 4-0 in the opener.
    In the finale, the Bulloch boys opened the scoring early in the first half. Derrick Harrison pounded the ball into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. But Trinity added two in the first half and two more in the second half for a 4-1 win.
    Both squads are back in action Saturday during the BA soccer program’s ‘quad-header’ with Robert Toombs Christian Academy at Gator Alley. The junior varsity girls’ team kicks off the action at 11 a.m. followed by the junior varsity boys at noon. The Lady Gators (1-4) take on the non-region Lady Crusaders at 1:30 p.m. while the Gators (2-4) battle the Crusaders at 3 p.m.


Gators win hit parade at TCA
      DUBLIN — Bulloch Academy pounded out 12 hits as the Gators ran away from Trinity Christian 16-9 Friday on the road.
    Forrest Spence led the way, reaching base all four times at the plate and finishing 3-for-3 with a home run.
    Walker Blitch pitched six innings and struck out eight.
    Junior Clayton Rogers and sophomore Bailey Smith each had home runs.
     Bulloch (4-1 overall and 1-0 in region play) travels to Milledgeville Tuesday to battle John Milledge Academy.

SEB tops Laney
    Southeast Bulloch defeated Laney 5-4 on Friday.
    The Yellow Jackets will host Emmanuel County Institute on Monday at 6 p.m.
