Lady Eagles look for first road win in Jacksonville

Georgia Southern’s two matchups against Southeastern Conference teams — Georgia and Alabama, got away in the second half, but for a team that’s young in the post, a lot of growing pains have been worked out.

The Lady Eagles (1-2) will look to build upon its 55-45 loss to Alabama Friday today when they face Jacksonville at 1 p.m.

"They’re going to be quick with their guards," said GSU coach Rusty Cram about the Lady Dolphins, "and they have a solid inside game. They’re going to be tough. It’s a road game, and it’s certainly winnable if we go and play our game."

Cram felt the Eagles played their game in the second half against the Crimson Tide. They trailed 30-17 at the break but closed the gap to five with under three minutes remaining.

"If we’d have played two halves, we’d of had that one," said Cram. "We missed a great opportunity there."

MiMi DuBose netted eight points in the game, a career high for the redshirt freshman.

DuBose, who is well known as a 3-point shooter, showed the ability to drive the lane against the Tide.

"I think part of that is because the three teams we’ve played, they’re very quick and aggressive. They’re very prone to go for the offensive foul. We weren’t hitting, so it was better for us to try to drive to the hole," DuBose said. "When we get into our conference schedule, there will probably be games where we’d rather take the open shots that we get. [Friday], the coaches were adamant about getting to the hole."
