City Council to consider alcohol ordinance change

    The Statesboro City Council is expected to approve a measure that will allow movie theaters to sell discounted tickets to senior citizens and children.
    The measure is a change to the city's alcohol ordinance exempting movie theaters from the rules regarding charging different admission prices for establishments that sell alcohol. It was approved on first reading at the council's previous meeting and also has the recommendation of the city's Alcohol Control Board.
    Other items on the city's agenda include:
    ‰ a request for annexation of 24.78 acres directly across from Bradford Place and a request to change the zoning from R-40 to Planned Unit Development;
    ‰ a motion to amending the residential subdivision incentive program;
    ‰ a resolution to authorize the destruction of certain municipal records;
    ‰ a motion to award a bid for four Ford Crown Victoria police cruisers to Rozier Ford for a total of $84,668.60;
    ‰ a motion to ward a bid for two Dodge Chargers to Carl Gregory Dodge for a total of $49,572.
    The city's meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the city hall council chambers.
