Community Review

Want to get in on the local blogging?

Text Size: Small Large Medium
This week has really gone by quickly. But even as fast as this week sped by for me, I’m sure that it passed even faster for all the schoolchildren who had winter break this past week. Even Ole Man Winter relented on Thursday to allow for some sunny outdoor time.
One of the highlights of my week came when I attended the awards banquet for the East Georgia Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Volunteers. This is a great group of men and women who make a tremendous contribution to our local hospital and our community. You’ll be hearing more about them later. Thank you, volunteers!

How to Create a Blog
Several people in the community have said to me, “I see the blogs that people have posted on your Web site, but how do they do it? I’m not a computer whiz.” Well, if posting a blog required being a computer whiz, I couldn’t do it either. Just follow the steps below to create your own blog or respond to someone else’s blog. But first, you need to create your account (free).
Here’s how to create an account:
    s Go to,
s Click on Community at the top,
s Click on Create an Account (left),
    s Fill in the blanks
    s Click Create New Account,
s You will see your information (don’t add message here)
You only have to create an account once. Your account allows you to add photos to the Photo Gallery, events to the Community Calendar and blogs.
    Now, create your blog:
    s Click on Community again,
s Log in with user name and password you supplied
    s Click Add Blog Entry
s Choose a title for your blog
    s Add your comments
s Choose a category (at the bottom)
Our categories will help readers to find blogs related to their specific interests. All blogs will continue to be added to the General category, as well. And if you run into a problem, call or e-mail me.
Check out our events for the upcoming week. In addition to their regular slate of activities, Statesboro Regional Library will have a “Meet the Author” program on Monday night. The planetarium is having a wonderful program on Friday. If you haven’t been out to see one of their shows, you need to go. It’s quite spectacular.
And now, I’m going to let you in on a little secret that has to do with our Kidsville publication. Kidsville is a national publication made available to K- fifth graders by local sponsors. Truman, that loveable green dragon from Kidsville, will be coming to Statesboro to attend events from time to time. That’s all I’m going to say for now. Watch the Web site for Truman sightings.
    Make it a great week!
