Whitney Erin Turner Andrew John Lavoie

       Mr. and Mrs. J. Barry Turner of Statesboro announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Whitney Erin, to Mr. Andrew John Lavoie, son of Ms. Eileen T. Lavoie of Peachtree City and Mr. Michael J. Lavoie of Kensington, Maryland.
          The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ms. Barbara Martin and the late Mr. Eugene Martin of Statesboro and Mr. and Mrs. Preston Turner of Nevils. Whitney was a 2002 honor graduate of Statesboro High School and went on to graduate, magna cum laude, from the University of Georgia with a degree in Public Relations in 2006. She also completed her Master's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at UGA in 2008. Whitney is a health communications fellow at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.
          The groom-elect is the grandson of Ms. Dorothy Gorman and the late Mr. Joseph Gorman of Montreal, Quebec, and Mr. and Mrs. John T. McCabe of Flat Rock, North Carolina, and the late Mr. Richard Lavoie. Andrew graduated with honors from McIntosh High School in Peachtree City in 2002. He went on to graduate, summa cum laude, as a first honor graduate from the University of Georgia in 2006, with degrees in International Affairs and Spanish. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2009. Andrew recently completed a federal judicial clerkship in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and is now an associate at the Atlanta law firm of Schreeder, Wheeler and Flint.
          An October wedding has been planned, and invitations have been sent.
