COCHRAN — Heaven Hinton’s layup with 2.4 left gave the Bulloch Academy Lady Gators a 38-36 win over Arlington Christian in the first round of the GISA Class AA state playoffs at Middle Georgia College on Wednesday.
After calling a timeout with 7.2 left in regulation, Kaylee Lanier picked up a deflected ball and fed Hinton under the basket for the game-winner.
Bulloch trailed by as many as six in the third quarter after surviving a 10-0 AC run. The Gators managed to cut the lead to 32-30 by the end of the period and grabbed the lead at 36-34 with 2:04 left to go in the contest.
Kacie Lanier led BA with nine points while Hinton finished with eight.
The Lady Gators improved to 13-16 with the win, and will play Friday at 5:30 p.m. at MGC for a chance to go to the final four. They’ll face the winner of the Brookwood School and Windsor.
