What can I getcha?

For years and years you’ve gone to the same restaurant, the same bar, the same wherever it is you may frequent.
You’ve gone to this particular place because you like Steve. Steve always knows what you’re going to order. Steve is always friendly. Steve is always ready to make sure you’re right at home and willing to go the extra little bit to make you happy.
There was even that one time you had a few too many cocktails. Steve gave you a ride home, then acted like it never happened.
Steve’s been around just about as long as you can remember. He asks how the kids, the grand kids, the cousins, the brothers and sisters, even how the pets are doing. Steve always has a smile on his face.
But then one day, during you’re usual routine, you stop in to have a bite to eat and say ‘Hi’ to Steve, only Steve isn’t there.
Hi, I’m Chad. I’m the new guy.

About me
Well it seems the powers that be have bestowed the Statesboro Herald Sports section unto me, Chad Robert Bishop, age 23 (soon to be 24).
I’m a 2001 graduate of The Brookwood High School in Snellville, Ga. (20 minutes east of Atlanta), and a 2006 graduate of Georgia Southern University.
The only truly necessary detail you, the ever faithful reader, needs to know about me — is that I love sports.
Not just the mainstream, but all of them (OK except for NASCAR, but you can imagine I never said that).
I love the intricacies, the passions, the little quirks and traditions of each and every little competitive activity on the face of this earth.
I tell you this because, as your new Sports Editor, I want the citizens of Bulloch County and our neighbors to understand that I don’t write about sports because it’s my job, but because I sincerely enjoy athletics.
I also must confess I’m an avid fan of the hometown Eagles. Whenever I have some free time or a day off (hah!), you can bet I’ll be somewhere near Collegeboro rooting on the Eagles. But also consider me Statesboro’s Kirk Herbstreit — I know when to draw the line.
Finally, feel free to contact me anytime. If you have a problem, a compliment, an issue, a story idea or just plain want to discuss local sports, I’ll be here.
So there you have it, me in a shell of nuts, or something like that. I can’t remember what the kids say these days. I’ll see yah around.

Chad Bishop is fully aware he needs to change that ridiculous head shot of his. He can be reached at (912)-489-9408.
