Books-A-Million, Petco help out local animals

At Petco Statesboro's Elizabeth Tippett plays with "Morrisson," who thinks Tippett's necklace is quite tasty. Tippett and her family ended up adopting Morrisson.

The Statesboro Humane Society is one of the most active civic groups in the area and also is one of the most imaginative when it comes to fundraising.

Saturday, the Humane Society teamed up with Books-A-Million and held a book fair to benefit the group on the same day it held a pet adoption at Petco. Patrons filled out vouchers at Books-A-Million in the Statesboro Crossing Mall and the store donated a part of the proceeds.
