Statesboro High School assistant principal Julie Mizell, left, welcomes students to the first day of class in the new building Wednesday. The first day for students in the new Statesboro High school building went smoothly, said Bulloch County Schools Assistant Superintendent Charles Wilson.“Everything went well today,” he said. “There were no unexpected major problems.” SHS Principal Dr. Marty Waters said “things went better than I expected” but there were a few minor snarls with parents being confused about where to drop off their children. Students who drive their own vehicles, as well as those arriving by bus, will use Blue Devil Alley, a private road to the school coming off Northside Drive East. Parents dropping students off must use the old driveway coming from Lester Road, and drop off students between  the new school construction and the old school building, he said. Parents are not to use the newly constructed  Blue Devil Alley off Northside Drive, he said.
