Armando Moran missed the after Thanksgiving sales earlier this year, so he wasn't going to pass up a second chance to save some money as he and others hit the stores early Tuesday morning looking for after Christmas sales.
"I saw the advertisements for the after-Christmas sales and wanted to see what all they had," he said.
Moran said he wasn't looking for anything in particular, instead he was just shopping "to see if anythng catches my eye."
Retailers are hoping people like Moran and others will be enticed by  post-Christmas sales to make up for a lackluster holiday shopping, according to ShopperTrak RCT Corp., a research firm.
Bill Martin, co-founder of ShpperTrack RCT Corp., the day after Thanksgiving was extremely good for retailers, but consumers didn't spend as much during the first two weeks of December.
Also out shopping Tuesday morning was Sarah Martin, who said she was looking for a new digital camera and a few other things and hoped to find one on sale.
"I always need new clothes and shoes and some jewelry," she said.
Like Moran, she also said the deep discounts attracted her to the stores.
Tonya Ivey had her hands full with bags as she was preparing to leave the Statesboro Mall.
She said she found a Christmas tree as well as some gifts for next year.
Donna Hodges was out looking to stock up on wrapping paper and other Christmas supplies for next year while they were all on sale. She also planned on visiting some of the stores in the Statesboro Mall to take advantage of the sales.
"There are sales from 50 to 70 percent off, so I'm going to go look at some of the clothes," she said.
