GSU softball schedule includes trip to West Coast.

A trip to California highlights the 2007 Georgia Southern softball schedule released this week in an announcement by head coach Natalie Poole.
    The schedule includes multiple trips to Atlanta, a tournament in Sacramento, Calif., and a home doubleheader against fellow 2006 Athens Regional participant Florida State.
    GSU will face six teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament including Florida A&M, FSU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Iowa and Kansas.
    The Eagles travel to Atlanta twice in the month of February for matchups at Georgia Tech (Feb. 10) and Georgia State (Feb. 20).  Georgia Southern opens play at home versus Florida State (Feb. 13) before hosting the GSU Invitational Tournament Feb. 16-18 and the GSU Eagle Classic Feb. 23-25. 
    Following the Eagle Classic, Georgia Southern takes to the road for almost a month.  The Eagles will return to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Buzz Classic March 2-4 and then head to Jacksonville for a twinbill at North Florida.  The squad will head across the country in the middle of March, visiting St. Mary’s in California (March 14) and participating in the Capitol Classic hosted by Sacramento State (March 16-18). 
    The Lady Eagles will begin SoCon play with a weekend series at Chattanooga March 24-25 and will return to Eagle Field March 31-April 1 for a three-game league battle with Furman. 
    On April 4, GSU will travel to Athens for a doubleheader at Georgia. Other non-conference games include trips to Kennesaw State (April 11) and Florida A&M (April 19). 
    The Eagles resume SoCon action as they travel to Charleston, S.C. , April 6-7 to play College of Charleston and Burlington, N.C. , to visit Elon.  The team welcomes UNC Greensboro to Eagle Field April 21-22 before hitting the road for a final trip to Cullowhee, N.C., to take on Western Carolina (April 28-29).  Georgia Southern wraps up the season at home, hosting Appalachian State May 5-6. 
    The 2007 Southern Conference tournament will be held in Greensboro, N.C., May 9-12.
    Georgia Southern is coming off a 35-35 season that concluded at the NCAA Tournament in Athens.  The Eagles finished third in the league with a 12-9 record and won the SoCon Tournament for the second time.
