Freedom sweeter to those who fought for it

    A veteran is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life."
    That is honor, and today there are too many people in this country who no longer understand what honor and sacrifice really mean. The taste of freedom is much sweeter for those who have fought to preserve that freedom.
