Two arrested after crashing into woman's house

Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies arrested two men whom they said crashed their way into an elderly woman's home, knocked her down and took her purse.

Carlis Leander Dixon, 28, Plantation Mobile Home Park, and Patrick Brinson, 25, Wade Carter Road, Ellabell, are both behind bars on charges of robbery, burglary, three counts of financial transaction card theft and abuse, neglect or exploitation of the elderly, he said.

The woman, 85, who lives near the intersection of Westside and Nessmith roads, answered a knock on her door around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, and did not open it when she saw Brinson and Dixon standing there, asking to use the phone, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson.

The victim offered to make a call for the men, however, but when one was giving her a phone number to call, the other kicked in her door, he said.

The door knocked  the woman's walker out of her hands and she fell as well, suffering minor injuries and bruising, he said.

Dixon and Brinson forced their ways into her home and took her purse, Anderson said. In the purse was cash, credit cards and personal identification.

Inv. Jared Akins arrived at the scene and launched an investigation that led to Dixon's and Brinson's arrests, he said.

Anderson said Dixon is also wanted in Chatham County and has an outstanding state court bench warrant. Brinson is wanted in Bryan, Effingham and Floyd counties for multiple charges, he said.

Both are being held in  the Bulloch County Jail without bond. The case will be turned over to the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office and then will be heard by a grand jury, he said.
