Sheriff: Man arrested on cocaine charges

Text Size: Small Large Medium
After a lengthy investigation during which Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team agents made a number of undercover drug buys, a Bulloch County man is behind bars without bond.
Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said Willie Kevin Ellis, 31, Miller Street Extension,  faces four counts of sale of cocaine and trafficking cocaine after drug agents arrested him in his home Wednesday.
Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team Investigator Jim Riggs and others made several undercover purchases of powder and crack cocaine from Ellis over the past three months, Anderson said.
When Riggs executed a search warrant Wednesday, agents found about $17,000 worth of powder and crack cocaine, Anderson said.
“Cocaine and crack is still a big problem in Bulloch County and on the college level as well,” Riggs said. While students appear to be more interested in powder cocaine, and crack is more often found in other populations around the county, both “continue to be an issue,” he said.
Anderson said BCDST members also recovered an undisclosed amount of cash and packaging materials — small zipper lock “baggies”  Riggs said that are “used for packaging jewelry but also commonly used for packaging small amounts of drugs” as well as sandwich sized zipper lock plastic bags.
“We will continue to actively enforce the laws in Bulloch County,” Riggs said. “Anyone with information regarding illegal drug activity is asked to contact the Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team at 764-8888.”
