Studio Statesboro launches today - a new kind of news

We’re starting something a little different today on statesboroherald.com.
I am confident you will find it informative, entertaining and fun. And, at times, a bit odd and unusual.
I also guarantee it will never be boring or ordinary.
Studio Statesboro debuts today at 4 p.m. on statesboroherald.com with our News Now vodcast. A new vodcast will be available every weekday — Monday-Friday — at 4 p.m.
What’s Studio Statesboro and what’s a vodcast? Glad you asked.
We are almost done with a complete renovation of the Statesboro Herald offices — both inside and out. As our company evolved from providing a print newspaper only to introducing a strong Web site, we wanted to add another element. So, part of our renovation included constructing a soundproof TV studio and control room inside the building. That’s where we will produce the daily vodcast.
It’s an amazing facility. It is, in fact, unique in the Statesboro area. Actually, unique also best describes what we will produce in Studio Statesboro.
— Unique content
— Unique presentation
— Unique attitude
How will we bring you a shiny new vodcast five days a week?
(By the way, vodcast is a word created out of “Video On Demand broadcast,” which means you can view Studio Statesboro programming on your schedule, not ours.)
More than seven months ago, we hired videographer Vince Johnson to help us develop content exclusively for our Web site. Vince now produces and hosts two successful sports shows that appear weekly on statesboroherald.com — Prep Sports Blitz and The Eagle’s Nest.
We hired a second videographer, Matt Bankhead, in February as the primary producer for Studio Statesboro programming.
We discovered a hidden talent among our advertising sales staff in Suzanne Samford. Suzanne will be the host of the daily show, as well as report on the scene at stories and features.
Finally, we have the largest and most experienced news, entertainment and sports gathering staff in the area who will all be part of the vodcast.
So, what can you expect? Well, I’ll tell you what not to expect — your typical evening newscast.
There will be nothing typical about Studio Statesboro.
After 4 p.m. today, go to statesboroherald.com and click on the Studio Statesboro icon. It will be the beginning of beautiful relationship.
