OTC names GOAL student

Laura “Molly” Bickerton, a radiologic technology student at Ogeechee Technical College, was named local winner of the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) at a luncheon held Monday at Ogeechee Tech. The announcement was made by Dr. Dawn Cartee, president of Ogeechee Tech.
The GOAL winner designation follows an extensive application process that includes nomination by an instructor, and interviews with internal and external reviewers. Bickerton will represent Ogeechee Tech at the state level when winners from other technical colleges and divisions in Georgia compete for three days in Atlanta in April.
Bickerton will receive an all expenses paid trip to Atlanta, courtesy of the Ogeechee Tech Foundation, Inc., and will be eligible for the title of State GOAL Winner, the GOAL medallion and a new automobile provided by Chevrolet as a grand prize.
The Technical College System of Georgia sponsors the GOAL program statewide. At the college-level, the program is co-sponsored by OTC’s Foundation and Student Leadership Council.
Speaking about the GOAL process and Bickerton, Cartee said, “We are very proud of all of our GOAL nominees and finalists, and we are especially proud of the hard work that all have put into this process. Molly will represent us well in Atlanta, and we wish her all the best as she competes on the state level.”
Bickerton was a local finalist for the GOAL competition last year. She was nominated by instructor Jan Martin, who will accompany Bickerton to the state competition.
